What is an eVTOL? What distinguishes a Vertiport from an Airport? What are the objectives of the Urban air mobility?
In this section we aim to answer many of the questions surrounding this technological challenge which promises to undermine the traditional idea of mobility.
An eVTOL is an Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing Vehicle. There are many different forms of these vehicles with new vehicle models being developed every day. Vertical Take-Off vehicles do not require an extended runway to fly. These vehicles can land in your yard or driveway as well as designated parking lots and vertiports. An electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft uses electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically. This technology came about thanks to major advances in electric propulsion (motors, batteries, fuel cells, electronic controllers) and the growing need for new vehicles for urban air mobility (air taxi).
For a more complete definition, see the following link (What is an eVTOL vehicle and how do evtols work? )
UAM is the acronym for Urban Air Mobility also known as Advanced Air Mobility.
UAM refers to urban transportation systems that move people by air. These transportation systems developed in response to traffic congestion.
Urban air mobility is a subset of a broader Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) concept that includes other use cases than intra-city passenger transport.
The reasons for owning a eVTOL are many, and they depend on private, or a corporation, ora municipality use.
below are some more common examples of the use of evtol.
- Fire fighting
- Hospital transport
- Police crowd control
- Search & Rescue
- Crop monitoring
- Livestock search and control
- Public works
- Goods delivery
- Travel and Tourism
In the near future, vertical mobility will still be a small part of the ways we move. However, it is essential to ensure that this sector is relevant both from an economic and a social point of view. For a single individual, as well as for a company above all, the purchase of an eVTOL in the future will lead to numerous advantages, such as for example:
- Meet Corporate Sustainability Goals
- Attract and Retain High Quality Workforce
- Enhance Employee Productivity and Satisfaction
- Meet Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals
- Help Local Air Quality
- “Green” Company Image Enhancing Your Brand
- “High Tech” Company Image Enhancing Your Brand
- Added Travel Flexibility
- Faster Commutes
- Save On Travel Costs
- Savings on maintenance costs (compared to a helicopter)
- Reduce Traffic
- Acceptable noise and definitely much lower than that of a helicopter
A flying car must be capable of safe and reliable operation both on public roads and in the air. Also, for mass adoption, it will need to be environmentally friendly, able to fly without a fully qualified pilot at the controls.
In order to run safely, a flying car must be certified independently as both a road vehicle and a plane, by the respective authorities. The person controlling the vehicle must also be licensed as both driver and pilot, and the vehicle supported according to both regimes.
The vehicles being developed today are being equipped with the latest technology of radar, anti-collision and avoidance systems, and multiple redundant systems including multiple computers, and the ability to fly with reduced numbers of propellers. These machines are also being equipped with ballistic parachutes if all else fails, to ensure the ultimate safety of the driver and their passengers.
Regulatory regimes are being developed in anticipation of a large increase in the numbers of autonomous eVTOL and personal air vehicles in the near future, and compliance with these regimes will be necessary for safe flight.
Currently, there are a small number of manufacturers in production or taking pre-production orders and deposits with many more on the near horizon. As more models come to market, Aeroauto will continue to increase its inventory. Go to the Personal and Commercial Vehicle Sales pages for our most current models available.
A basic flying car requires the person at the controls to be both a qualified road driver and at times an aircraft pilot. This is impractical for the majority of people and so wider adoption will require computer systems to de-skill piloting. These skills include aircraft maneuvering, navigation, and emergency procedures, all in potentially crowded airspace. The onboard control system will also need to interact with other systems such as air traffic control and collision-risk monitoring. A practical flying car may need to be capable of full autonomy, in which people are present only as passengers.
Some models will require a pilot’s license and others will be classified in the Ultralight category which does not require licensing. Aeroauto knows the importance of proper use and training of these vehicles and has a mandatory training for all customers buying an UAMV from Aeroauto. This training will be done between the time of purchase and delivery, so you are able to fly your new UAMV home that day.
The flying car places unique demands on the vehicle powertrain. For a given all-up weight, an aero engine must deliver higher power than its typical road equivalent. However, on the road the vehicle must handle well and not be overpowered. Some designs therefore have multiple engines, with the road engine being supplemented, or even replaced by, additional flight engines.
As with other vehicles, power has traditionally been supplied by internal combustion engines, but electric power is undergoing rapid development. That because its low environmental signature makes it attractive, and it is expected to prove even more practical in the near future.
There are many different manufacturers and models available to all levels of affordability, from the price of a moderate SUV to an exotic sports car. Our experienced sales team will work with you to find the most appropriate eVTOL to fit your budget.
Customization and Individualization is one of the many services that Aeroauto Aeromalls provide which will change the price of the UAMV. Our engineers and design teams will work with you to create that one-of-a-kind look to make your new vehicle as unique as you are.
Financing is available.
Flying cars will be used for relatively short distances at high frequency. This will lead to flights with lower speeds and altitudes than conventional passenger aircraft.
An eVTOL capable of widespread use must operate well within a heavily populated urban environment. Consequently the lifting and propulsion systems must be silent enough not to cause nuisance and must not create excessive pollution.
The clear environmental benefits of electric power are a strong incentive for its development.
Most eVTOL Vehicles will be able to fit in your garage, or if you choose a larger model, your driveway or new helipad designed by our partners to fit your needs. There will be new designated parking lots and areas created for these new vehicles along with charging stations to keep your batteries at full strength.
Vertiports are being designed by developers all around the world and will be associated with airports, train stations, and other public transportation routes. Existing helicopter pads and heliports are being utilized as takeoff and landing areas as well.
Most UAMVs are electrically run which requires charging the batteries at regular intervals. Similar to current electric cars, home charging units and public charging stations are utilized to re-charge your vehicle. UAMVs on average require 2-3 hours for a full charge.
Our fully licensed and insured home electric charging station partners will come to your home and install the proper unit necessary to the size and model of your new vehicle. These will be installed while you are awaiting delivery of your vehicle, so it is ready immediately once you arrive home with the newest addition to your family.
Yes, you will need insurance to fly your eVtol!
At the moment, as the eVtol sector is still under development, there is a lot of uncertainty.
Many of the aircraft that are, or will soon be on the market may not have affordable insurance. This is because I am unable to meet the insurers’ requirements.
Aeroauto is currently becoming the FIRST insurance provider for UAMV use in the United States. Keep checking back to the website for updates on the insurance packages available.
Yes. Depending on the model bought, the weight limits are from 225 pounds for a single passenger vehicle to over 1500 pounds for the largest models. Our sales team will aid you at the time of purchase to make sure you buy the vehicle right for your needs.
UAMV distances vary greatly by model and manufacturer. Engine numbers and type, number of passengers, etc. are all variables in the distances these can travel. Primarily created for short to mid-distance travel and there are limits based on classification. Ultralight vehicles are only able to travel a short distance for short periods of time.
UAMV speeds vary greatly by model and manufacturer. The number of engines and the type of engines whether it is electric, hydrogen, or gasoline fueled, the number of passengers being carried, etc. are all variables in the speeds these can travel. Primarily created for short to mid-distance travel and speed, there are limits based on classification. Ultralight vehicles are only able to travel with limited speeds for short periods of time, while UAMVs that require Sport Pilot or a Full Pilot’s License are able to travel at much greater speeds.
